2023 Mazumdar NEW PLAY AWARD Entry FORM

Playwrights, please format your submission draft in the following way, uploaded as a single document.

Remove all all personally identifying information (name, contact info, agent, agent’s contact, etc) from your script.
Be sure to include a character and scene/song breakdown. Include character names and any necessary identifying traits, plus doubling plot, etc.
If it is a musical, please indicate on your title page a URL where demos can be heard.

The Mazumdar New Play Award is not adjudicated blindly, however, the first two rounds of reading will be read without any identifying information. Your responses to questions on the form will be linked to your script in a separate spreadsheet for internal use only.

All entries are due by 11:59pm EST on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. No late entries will be accepted. Each playwright may enter only one script. If your submission is successful, you will see a confirmation notice on this screen after clicking "submit." You will not receive an email confirmation as our system is not set up to do that automatically.

Full Length Category

The Full Length Play or Musical should be ‍90 minutes or more, requiring no more than 10 performers. Solo pieces are acceptable.

Finalists will be notified approximately January 1, 2024; the winning play will be announced approximately March 1, 2024 and will receive its premiere production in the 2024/25 Alleyway season. The playwright will receive an award prize of $750 in addition to box office royalties.
