Launching soon is the ALLEYWORKS series, featuring six distinct programs focused on research and the development of new works of theatre and the artists who create them.

These programs serve to support playwrights and artists locally and nationally as they work to create daring new theatre through collaborative and one- to-one initiatives.

Details on the rollout of these programs will be announced in the coming months, beginning with NEW PAGES -- an regular open mic night for playwrights.

Alleyway Theatre seeks six Western New York playwrights
for the BUFFALO QUICKIES 2023 ten-minute play festival. Playwrights will have just one week to write before directors and actors have another one week to rehearse, design, and perform new, short plays, all centered on a single topic.

Availability:You must be available to write a ten-minute play between February 22 – 28,2023.

Please send your best three pages of dialogue by December 1, 2022, along with your contact details, to with subject BQ23 Playwright. Selected playwrights will be notified by January 1, 2023. All playwrights at the Alleyway are paid a guarantee against gross box office percentage.
