BUFFALO, N.Y. — A new musical in the works debuted at the Alleyway Theatre this weekend inspired by a popular Buffalo-based restaurant chain — Jim’s Steakout.
The production follows the storyline of six Western New Yorkers who find themselves stranded at the restaurant during a blizzard. A workshop presentation of the musical was showcased at the Alleyway Theatre Saturday, where actors staged the work they’ve done so far in front of an audience.
Organizers of the performance said the show celebrates community.
“It’s such an important part of the community, and for us to kind of shine a light on these kinds of important community hotspots that really do bring a community together, it’s important for me,” said Justin Karcher, a co-writer of the musical. “Those places are where the stories happen, and everyone has a story that has happened at Jim’s Steakout.”
Actors took to the stage for one last workshop performance at 7:30 p.m. at Alleyway Theatre.
